VMware vSphere & vSAN: When Infrastructure Scale Changes the Requirements

A small virtualization environment and a large enterprise cluster may use the same technologies, but their operational requirements can be very different.

Author: Miroslav Stankoviansky Published: 1 min read

In large VMware vSphere and vSAN environments, performance depends on more than individual servers. Architecture, storage availability, network connectivity, capacity reserves and resilience during both planned and unexpected outages all become critical.

Working today is not enough

Infrastructure may perform well under normal conditions while hiding weaknesses that appear during maintenance, failures or future growth.

Regular architecture assessments help identify potential limitations before they affect performance or availability.

Modernization does not always mean migration

Not every VMware environment needs to be replaced with another platform. In many cases, optimizing the existing infrastructure, modernizing selected components or improving operational practices is the better approach.

The decision should be based on actual technical and business requirements.
